Violinist Rita Nakad was born in Syria in 1994, where she started studying music at the age of five. After immigrating to Venezuela in 2001, she continued her musical studies in Valencia, where she lived for 12 years. In 2006 she started traveling weekly to the capital Caracas to take violin and chamber music lessons in Mozarteum School of Music, a small school for selected musicians. In 2012 Rita moved to Basel to study at the Hochschule für Musik, where she received her Bachelors in 2016 and Masters degree in 2018. In May 2018 she won an internship in the internationally renowned Chamber Orchestra of Basel Season 2018-19, where she collected special experience in the historically informed performance, playing with gut strings and historical bows. She is currently a student of Professors Adelina Oprean and Raphael Oleg, studying toward a pedagogic masters degree.
Rita has attended several masterclasses and festivals across Europe and the USA, where she received individual and chamber music lessons with big artists such as David Waterman, Conradin Brotbek, Jesper Christensen, Philippe Graffin, Amy Norrington, Rainer Schmidt, Ernst Kovacic, Eberhard Feltz and others.
For 3 years (2014-2016) she was member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra working with conductor Daniel Barenboim.
For her social and interdisciplinary interest, Rita received the Culture Award of Zonta Oberschwaben-Germany in 2017.
